I never expected to be single at my age. I always thought I would meet The One and we would get married and live happily ever after. I know that many marriages are a lottery but to never have had a ticket is galling. I imagine planning the service, tinkering with the liturgy to introduce a slightly dangerous hint of paganism, selecting the music and sound checking the speakers the day before. I allow myself to picture what fun it must be to play social god with a seating plan for a wedding reception.
