When clouds obscure the valley’s view of mountains
and lifeless leaves disguise the source of fountains,
masters, gurus and gods would be wrong
to claim the rock and water gone.
In the dreary dullness of the daily grind
you struggle to recall, forget to remind
yourself that we are nature’s forces too;
that rock and water live in you.
Though soporific shallowness prevails
to keep the birdbrained singing in their jails,
Love demands our willing acquiescence
to feel and know and be our essence.
